FIRST WAVES / A BEGINNER’S NOTEBOOK
Your first few waves.
Start by observing. You can learn more from one useful change than from rebuilding everything.
Understand the objective and route
Before placing anything, find out what you are protecting and what counts as a loss. Follow the route from its entrance to the point you must defend. Look for bends, junctions, and stretches where a tower might cover more of the path. Some games choose positions for you; others offer more freedom. Read the tutorial before assuming you can move a tower later.
Learn what each tower does
Read a tower’s description and look at its range indicator. Damage is only one part of the decision: a tower might affect several enemies, slow movement, or suit a particular target. Learn a small selection first. If the game explains targeting rules, check those too. A tower that cannot reach or affect an enemy cannot solve that problem.
Balance new towers and upgrades
A new position can extend coverage; an upgrade can strengthen a position you already have. Pause when the game allows it and ask where your defense actually struggles. Are enemies escaping an uncovered stretch, or surviving a well-covered one? Use that observation to guide your next purchase. There is no single spending order that works across every game.
Pay attention to enemy characteristics
Watch what gets through, then read any available enemy information. Speed, protection, and movement type can change which tools are useful. Do not assume a bigger group is the only danger. Notice when a particular kind of enemy survives repeatedly, and check whether your current towers are able to deal with it.
Change one part at a time
After an unsuccessful attempt, keep one useful observation: perhaps a tower spent too long without a target. Adjust its position or your upgrade timing on the next try, rather than changing everything together. Comparing two similar attempts makes it easier to understand what helped. In competitive play, remember that another player’s choices can also change the outcome.
Review purchase prompts
Free installation and free access to every item are different things. Read the amount, currency, and item description before confirming a purchase. Check whether an offer is a one-time payment or has recurring terms. If you do not want to spend, dismiss the prompt and check the game’s available free options. Device-level purchase authentication can help prevent accidental confirmations.
